Hi I’m Emma, owner of EMCO Cosmetic Tattooing.

My love of Cosmetic Tattooing is the result of a long-standing passion for beauty and make-up. I enjoy my work immensely and as a perfectionist I have a great eye for detail. I trained in Melbourne under Andrea Darby, a reknowned master trainer in cosmetic tattooing, and I now operate out of a dedicated space in St Lukes, Auckland.

Helping my clients feel good about themselves is my top priority. I pride myself on treating my clients with respect, ensuring their needs are met, and providing them with the necessary care and information before, during and after treatment.

Every client is unique, so each treatment begins with a consultation where together we can establish the perfect colour and shape with the end goal of enhancing your natural beauty.

Please feel free to contact me for further information, and make sure you pop to the services and FAQ areas of this site to find out more about what Emco can do for you. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Microblading is rapidly increasing in popularity as it delivers amazing brows that frame your face in natural perfection requiring minimal at-home maintenance. Using this technique, hair-like strokes are implanted into the skin using a hand blade. After your initial two sessions you will have gorgeous, natural-looking brows that will last up to a year before requiring a colour refresh.

Lip line and Blend

This is great for those who have lost definition in their lips or are lacking in lip pigment. Lip Line and Blend involves lining the lips then blending the colour into the lips leaving a beautiful and natural result. This procedure lasts upwards of two years before requiring a colour refresh.

Eye Liner

Eyeliner is a great option for those who don’t want to deal with tricky eye pencils each day. The result is a faultless contour that will save you time and define your eyes beautifully. Depending on your preference, the procedure can be performed on your top lid, bottom lid, or both.

Lash Enhancement:

Not to be confused with Eyeliner, Lash Enhancement is a fine line tattooed through the lash line to make the eyes and lashes “pop”. Lash Enhancement is a fantastic subtle option that helps define the eyes without looking like you are wearing make up.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a two-step process, usually four to five weeks apart. It is important to complete both the initial procedure and touch up.

The initial procedure takes approximately 90 minutes. Your appointment will begin with the application of a topical anaesthetic to numb your brows. A consultation will follow to discuss your desired brow look and colour options before a guide outline is drawn for your approval.
No one’s face is perfectly symmetrical - as we like to say “brows are sisters, not twins” -  but we will do our very best to create as much symmetry as possible. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry that has been outlined, a semi-permanent pigment is applied with a sterile, single-use microblading tool. This procedure uses a manual hand tool and not a machine.

The second stage of the treatment is a touch-up appointment that takes approximately 60 minutes. Touch-ups are performed no earlier than four weeks after your initial procedure and no later than six weeks. It is imperative you complete the touch-up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal as colour will fade significantly within the first four weeks while the skin heals. The touch-up procedure corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes; it colour tones and finishes the process to ensure optimum longevity of your brows.

Is cosmetic tattooing  Painful?

We apply an anaesthetic cream prior to your procedure. We also check in with you and apply more numbing treatment as required throughout your procedure.
Every effort is made to keep you as comfortable as possible but please bear in mind pain thresholds differ from person to person.

Who cannot undergo cosmetic tattoing?

  • Those who are pregnant are advised not to go ahead with this type of cosmetic procedure
  • Those who are prone to Keloid Scarring
  • Those who have allergies to hair dyes, makeup or jewellery
  • Those who are taking certain medications eg. Roacutane acne treatment, and certain blood thinners.

If you are unsure whether or not cosmetic tattooing is appropriate for you, please contact us to discuss.

What is the healing process?

Your eyebrows will look fantastic straight after the procedure. On days two to four they will appear darker as the pigment slightly scabs - don’t worry, they will not stay that way! Over the four weeks, before your touch-up session, you may find some strokes have faded and parts of the brow have gone patchy. This is completely normal and the reason a second session is required.

After having your lips tattooed the colour will appear much darker as the pigment comes to the surface of the skin. Your lips will look very intense for about three days so we recommend booking treatment at a time that avoids important social events in the first week of healing. After three to four days the colour will start to settle and look more natural. You may experience some patchiness where the colour has taken better in certain spots - for this reason it is very important to have your second appointment to address any trouble areas and finalise treatment.

Immediately after the procedure your Eyeliner will appear very intense and harsh. This is totally normal and nothing to be concerned about. When the colour has settled and the skin healed your liner will appear a lot softer. As with all cosmetic tattooing treatments, you may experience some fading and patchiness betwen your first and second appointment.

What will make my brows fade faster?

  • Iron deficiency
  • Sun exposure
  • Exfoliants
  • Strong immune systems
  • Exposure to salt water
  • Smoking

What is required for aftercare?

At the conclusion of your appointment you will be provided with aftercare cream. You must not get the tattooed area wet for seven days and you will need to apply aftercare cream three times per day for that period. During this time no makeup can be applied directly to the tattooed area. After seven days of aftercare has passed you can get the area wet and apply makeup as normal.
